SANYO distributor Air conditioning Accessories is the latest company to offering specialist installer training for the unique carbon dioxide-based ECO heat pump heating system.
The company, appointed a SANYO distributor earlier this year, has invested in a dedicated facility at its premises in Leeds. It includes a working demonstration model of the new high efficiency technology that is challenging the supremacy of the traditional gas boiler in domestic and small commercial applications.
The training programme supports the national roll-out of SANYO’s C02 ECO system, which was launched at the H&V/RAC 09 and Ecobuild earlier this year. It brings to five the number of centres across the UK now offering CO2 heat pump training.
Installers on the one-day course receive training in the theoretical and design aspects of working with carbon dioxide-based heat pump systems, and gain hands-on experience of working with the technology.
Engineers successfully completing the course become Approved Sanyo Installers for C02 heat pumps, and may apply for relevant government grants covering the technology.
Richard Stewart, who heads the Leeds branch, said: “The technology is a winner. There really is nothing to touch it in the market at the moment - it has created huge interest from both the trade and end users.”
He adds: “Any competent refrigeration and air conditioning installer will have no problem installing or maintaining the system. However, the course as an essential prerequisite as it highlights the slightly unusual operating characteristics of carbon dioxide, which differ in some respects to conventional refrigerant-based systems.”
