Typically, each one of us breathes in around 15,000 litres (15 cubic meters) of air each day. Since air is so vital to our very existence, it makes sense to think very carefully about the quality of this remarkable but invisible substance.

In every building where people gather, airborne micro-organisms, which can cause health risks to humans, are present. Viruses can easily spread from person to person causing a significant effect on staffing levels, productivity and efficiency at work.

It is estimated that the recent outbreak of Norovirus, 'the winter vomiting bug' reached epidemic levels striking down over 2.8 million people in the UK at a rate of 200,000 per week, causing widespread disruption to hospitals, schools and workplaces around the country.

With hospital 'superbugs' such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile continuing to cause the health service significant problems, the need for effective ways of combating airborne micro organisms is ever increasing.

The World Health Organization recently declares the H1N1 swine flu a worldwide pandemic, new cases are doubling every week. To keep the air safe and healthy in public places, there is a real need for systems that can effectively treat the air.

SANYO is justifiably proud to introduce an Air Cleaner equipped with 'Virus Washer' technology, a patented electrolysed water technology that literally washes the air of airborne viruses and bacteria, to create a new standard in air purification and a cleaner environment for you, your loved ones, your clients and your colleagues to live, meet and work in.

 

Inactivates airborne viruses with the power of electrolyzed water.

Electrolysed water is created by combining tap water and electricity. When tap water is electrolysed the chorine ions present form hydroxyl radicals and hypochlorous acid which work together to destroy the spikes on the surface of the virus. This allows it to wrap around, disinfect and deodorise airborne viruses, bacteria and mould as well as dust mite faeces and odour molecules. This prevents the Virus from attaching to and infecting healthy cells.  

 

The unit houses an Electrolyzed Water Disinfecting Element to inactivate viruses and other airborne microbes and particles. Electrolyzed water runs over the air purification element in the Virus Washer. Indoor air is then forced to circulate through the element, inactivating airborne viruses which pass through it. Independent verification tests have shown that electrolyzed water is effective in suppressing more than 99% of viruses in the air passing through the disinfectant element in a single pass.

 

Powerful cleaning – can be used in schools, hospitals, offices, and other large spaces.

 

To clean the air in large spaces where many people come and go, the fan speed can be set to 480 m3/h (8 m³/min). This makes the Virus Washer suitable for use in schools, hospitals, and other large spaces where people gather. The powerful cleaning capacity is capable of circulating the air approximately 2.7 times per hour in a school classroom (approximately 180 m³).
