SANYO introduces its most advanced full-HD home cinema projector - the PLV-Z3000

SANYO has announced the launch of its most advanced full HD (1920 x 1080) home cinema projector, model PLV-Z3000.   The PLV-Z3000 features ‘Dynamic Predictive Frame Interpolation Technology’ that utilizes a new generation of 120Hz*1 full HD panel to produce incredibly smooth video projection for even the fastest moving scenes. A super high contrast ratio of 65,000:1 enables the reproduction of intense “jet-blacks” to bring further depth to the projected image, while a 19-decibels*4 “whisper-quiet” cooling fan enables viewers to fully enjoy even the quietest scenes.

In addition to these advanced features, the PLV-Z3000 offers excellent connectivity including dual HDMI (version 1.3b compatible) digital inputs and dual component inputs, as well as the industry’s most advanced lens shift*5 function and a  two times zoom lens for ultimate positioning flexibility.  The PLV-Z3000 will be on sale in the UK from the end of November 2008 but will be shown at the Photokina 2008 Show in Cologne, Germany from September 23rd to September 28th.

Gareth Day, SANYO’s UK Product Marketing Manager comments, “Rapid growth in the availability of High Definition content is increasing the demand for large screen sizes within the home. The SANYO PLV-Z3000 is the latest addition to SANYO’s highly acclaimed Z-series of projectors and takes large screen home entertainment to a new level.  Combining Full HD 120Hz LCD panels, Dynamic Predictive Frame Interpolation Technology, contrast ratio of 65,000:1 and full 24p compatibility, the PLV-Z3000 sets a new standard in image quality. Whisper quiet operation, excellent connectivity and set up flexibility make this projector an ideal choice for home cinema enthusiasts who want a truly realistic home cinema viewing experience.”

Outline

With rapid growth in the availability of High Definition content, projectors capable of meeting this growing need are in increasing demand.  Full HD home-cinema projector shipments worldwide are expected to reach approximately 200,000 units by the end of fiscal year 2008. In addition, the market for full HD projectors is expected to double globally, potentially reaching as much as 400,000 in annual shipments by the end of fiscal year 2010 (according to internal SANYO studies). Even before first introducing the PLV-Z1 in October 2001, SANYO has long been a world leader in cutting edge projector technology.  Now, with the development of its most advanced full-HD model, the PLV-Z3000, SANYO continues to set the benchmark for home cinema projectors.

Detailed Explanation

1. Achieves incredible 120Hz display speed*1; Industry’s first*2 5:5 pull-down mode*3

- New generation 120Hz super-fast Full HD panel built-into the projector.

- Increasingly smooth video projection enabled through doubled frame rate from 60 frames/second to 120 frames/second*1 using interpolation frame generation technology from built-in super-fast image processing LSI

- Reduction of afterimage effects through dynamic predictive frame interpolation technology

- Accurately projects contents originally in 24p with industry’s first*1 5:5 pull-down mode*3

- Compatible with various television digital broadcasting, enabling the full home cinema experience to be brought to everyday broadcast programming

2. Jet-black color reproduction with high contrast ratio of 65,000:1

- New optical engine with additional optical compensating plate minimizes polarized light leakage to increasing contrast ratio

- Equipped with new variable iris featuring a lamp-light volume control mechanism that can adjust lens iris adjustment every 1/60th of a second

- Lens designed to enable fast acting lens adjustment, adjusting to optimal levels automatically

- Deeper, more dynamic black color reproduction is made possible with new lens

- Iris noise has been reduced for more optimal enjoyment of quiet scenes

3. Industry’s most silent*4 projector at only 19 decibels

The PLV-Z3000 is equipped with a built-in newly developed large aperture, low noise Sirocco cooling fan, that both limits operating noise to a  level of 19 decibels*4, as well as offering improved cooling to the projection unit. The reduction in noise allows movies and films to be enjoyed and heard during quiet or silent scenes, providing true home cinema enjoyment on a large screen in any room and during any scene.

4. Other Features

The PLV-Z3000 includes a Cinema colour filter mechanism for rich, accurate colour reproduction (Video mode operation) and features two HDMI ports.

The Z3000 offers the Industry’s most versatile*5 built-in lens-shift function that enables vertical lens shift of up to three screen sizes, and horizontal lens shift up to two screen sizes. This enables the projector be placed off centre from the screen giving maximum flexibility as to where it is situated in a room while maintaining projected image quality. The PLV-Z3000 also benefits from a built in 2x zoom enabling large screen projection within large or small room sizes.

The PLV-Z3000 also features an automatic electronic on/off lens cover to minimize dust build up when the projector is not in use.  The unit can therefore easily be ceiling mounted, if desired, without the worry of dust particles building up over time and impairing images.

Other features of the PLV-Z3000 include 7 preset video modes which match various genres of videos (Brilliant Cinema/Creative Cinema/Natural/Living/Dynamic/Pure Cinema/x.v.Colour) and effortlessly provide an enhanced home cinema experience.  ‘3d Color Management’ and ‘Advanced Image Mode’ options are also available for more experienced users.
